Massage and manual therapies are far from just "relaxation" based treatments. Manual therapies are centuries old, found across the world, and encompass a wide variety of techniques that have a primary focus on managing musculoskeletal pain. Hippocrates even describes them in early texts.
Grounded in clinical reasoning, our goal is to help clients enhance pain management by influencing multidimensional factors that play a part in physiological, social, and psychological processes of pain.

While touch obviously plays a major role in treatments, we go beyond that aspect, and dive deep into the mystery that is pain. In the last 20 years or so, we have just began to understand more about pain. It isn't black and white - pain can be present without any physical sign and vice versa. "Pain is made in the brain". In order to manage symptoms effectively, you must find the root cause. Without this, you're essentially slapping on a band-aid and hoping for the best. However, this isn't as easy as it sounds. For this reason we as practitioners often "cast a net" instead of a "hook". You'll hear people say "this technique is so much better than this one". It is impossible to know what your body will respond to without proper assessment and trial. I encourage you to try a few methods before cancelling out ones you haven't tried.
By incorporating this passive skilled treatment, a therapist/clinician influences a variety of anatomical structures and systems. From reduction in inflammatory markers and bio-mechanical changes, to modification of cortical areas involved in pain processing - manual therapy goes far beyond just manipulating tissue.
Manual therapies are a powerful natural alternative to western based treatments, and have the added benefit of almost zero serious complications or side-effects. At our facility we utilize a multimodal approach by incorporating exercise, nutrition, manual therapy, massage therapy, IASTM, cupping, taping, weight loss, overall wellness support, and so much more to ensure we cover all bases that support your body's innate ability to heal naturally. Through proper individualized assessments, we listen and navigate through your body's unique story, and apply evidence based treatments to encourage a positive response.
We are excited at the fact that these alternative therapies are gaining momentum and being researched. The more we can prevent injury and illness, the easier and more cost effective our future will be. We hope to be a source of encouragement, education, and support through your wellness journey no matter your path or desired destination. We hear you and we see you - even if no one else does!
as always, stay well!
